Pros & Cons
Pros
The washer acts as a sound dampener. It is still a good idea to use manual focusing when recording videos. Foam screen helps reduce moderate wind noise.
It seems to be positioned as a decent all around mic, not specifically for voice or music. The sound is significantly better than the built-in mic. It’s perfect for when conducting interviews or trying to get singing/performing on camera and want to i... Read More
This affordable external microphone is a great companion for your dslr. It plugs in easily to my canon dslr, but i've also used it plugged into my laptop. The microphone is plugged into your camera's microphone input socket using a 3.
The sound quality is good; not necessarily terrific. This is a nice microphone for the novice user. For general no-voice use, it's pretty good and has great pickup with its dual-directional system.
Mount attaches to the mic with a large, soft washer between them. Works with camera and portable speaker. If you have a noisy camera, you need an isolation mount.
Cons

The audio quality is average abut does sound tinny.
Price
For the price you can’t beat these microphones.
There are better mics out there, but at five times the price.
Competitiveness
It may not have the full, rich sound of a more high-end model, but i think it's a good economical option.
in a sea of competition, this camera-mounted microphone from amazonbasics is an excellent value proposition.
I have a canon t3i and did a comparison between the internal microphones and the amazon basic condenser microphone.
