We are using ours for storing recycling so this isnt really an issue although i can see that it could cause odour issues if you were putting actual rubbish into it as the lid does not seal tightly

The 50l version might not suit everyone because it is quite large but smaller versions are available so needs to go into a room where a lot of waste is produced
