The ethernet port on the laptop was faulty and wouldnt hold the cable in place so this adapter enabled connection via a usb port

Most of the time the wifi on my laptop is fast enough but there are some times when i have really large file to move and the 250mbitssec the wifi gives just takes too long

I bought this to get round an issue with my laptops wifi card and despite the official description implying it wasnt suitable for linux i saw others had suggested it did work and took a chance

Fortunately it does work perfectly fine on arch linux straight out the box no fiddling or installation of anything required

Obviously there are numerous flavours of linux so some may have problems but why amazon cant use some catch all language that at least suggests its often possible to use it with linux would be trivial and much better than having to have customers delve into reviews like this one and others online for a nonofficial answer
