Pros & Cons
Pros
The operating system is slightly different but still manageable. This is compatible with all my current cameras. I contacted amcrest and with their help, ordered the above unit.
I don't have the noisy fan problem others mentioned, it's a quiet wooshing, not a buzz or whine. My only complaint is that the cooling fan is a bit loud.
Cons
The web interface to the dvr only works in ie, no other browser because of a reliance on a 2005 plug-in design. They also force you to supply an email address so they can retrieve your forced password for you.
The view is intermittent, sometimes it's there and sometimes it isn't. The window containing the camera view is offset to the lower right so you only have a partial view. I am also disappointed because i purchased 2 of amcrest camera which are connect... Read More
Software is buggy and does not work right on the playback of the recorded video. Amcrest's servers sending out notifications are only 15fps, but the file envelope says 30fps. After 3 email replies and a phone message to him, a week since his last emai... Read More

I took the advice of another review regarding the fan that ships with the product by replacing it with a noctua fan (see below).
I'm not the only one with problems with the amcrest view pro app.
Price
The price was right and it seems at least as good as any of the plethora of security dvr's.
Shipping
He was very knowledgeable and took care of the problem fast.
Packaging/appearance
I found the amcrest dvr to actually be much more user friendly to get set up and connected to the internet.
Competitiveness
Bought this as a replacement for a qsee dvr since they closed their doors and shut down their remote monitoring app.
Replaced my q-see unit very easily oh, hope it lasts longer
Had this up and going with a 1tb seagate skyhawk hard drive in about 30 minutes.
Originally i had a zosi 1080p 8 channel system.
