If you are using linux the live streaming video direct from camera wont work because of a video licensing issue this is common for all the inexpensive cameras but it works fine from mac

The software in the cameras is not the greatest and mostly works however the best way to use these cameras is via the amcrest cloud service

Thats what these cameras are really designed for and its obvious the company spent most development resources on the cloud

You get one camera with limited cloud data storage for free additional cameras will trigger monthly fees which dont seem unreasonable for what they are doing

Pro tip to connect to the cloud if the camera is connected to the internet the first two hours it will phone home
