Intel has good i5 and i7 options from multiple generations close to this price point as well.
I also chose this as the am5 upgrade path is hard to ignore when comparing to 13th gen intel, albeit the cost is higher.
7700x has better price/performance from 7700 (nonx).

Coming from a i7 4960x gaming pc and a i7 6700 audio production system this 7700 non x has more than enough power to provide both well
