Pros & Cons
Pros
Color illustrations, rather than photos, often make identification easier, because the salient features can be included to clear advantage. The book offers beautifully illustrated pictures with information and mapping for each.
Each bird is given a full page with annotated large photo and small pictures of the bird in flight, and in it’s habitat. It even breaks down what other similar birds you may mistake for the one you're looking at.
Even the physically fit nature lover finds it amazing. It is heavy, but nice when you just want to relax and leaf through the pages. The glossary is in easy to read, alphabetical order.
This book is the perfect gift for the birding enthusiast or to keep for yourself. I own three different versions of stokes and the nat geo north american bird book, but this is my favorite by far. Book is great every bird and info in it with pics.
