Packaging/appearance
Sure, you can use wire to make an extension, but having it all in one package is very ideal.
The tester is bigger than i envisioned but it's as described and as shown in the photos.
Competitiveness
Compared with other devices, this design avoids to use traditional alligator clips and jumper wires.
It works just as good as my name brand one at 1/4 of the price.
This unit has a better display and price for the same functionality.

Its great that it can measure voltages and signals from a distant point back to the battery but if you run out of length or need to maneuver in a tight spot its a problem

I would have been great if this tester could have incorporated a small battery to perform some of its functions without being tethered
