Pros & Cons
Pros
The setup from opening box to connecting to wifi takes about 2 minutes. The anova app has many recipes, etc.
Bought this on the recommendation of several tech podcasters. It shows and controls water temperature, duration and even shows the current water level. The device is easy to clean and maintain.
This is where sous vide shines above all other cooking methods. By the way searing can be done before you cook sous vide, it still comes out perfect.
Cons
The wifi on my unit was defective and i am in my third week of trying to get a replacement for it. Since both units were poorly manufactured, my recommendation is to buy something else. Will be contacting their customer support.
The app is next to worthless, and the wi-fi has never, ever worked. The crummy app detracts from the usefulness of this item. After looking up the issue, its common. It is now broken and doesn't work remotely.
The metal casing on the outside unscrewed and will not lock into place. There is a rotor on the inside which circulates the water, it hits the metal casing. The condensation shorts one of the components out on the circuit card.

Highlights
Quality
-properly grounded-it feels like quality, there isn't anything cheap about it.
And though i seldom use the clamp, it's very adustable.
If you're on the fence, save yourself a few bucks and don't bother with the extra connectivity options.
The reviews of the newer, smaller anova successor are quite mixed, ranging from quality control issues to problems with the design.
Shipping
On the downside, my unit died after just a few uses (nothing happened when plugged in) but props to the anova people who respon... Read More
Competitiveness
I also bought a chefsteps joule for comparison purposes, and ended up returning it.
So, i ordered this back in december of 2018, can't remember the seller, but it came to me broken.
Though, i don't hate the idea of including another 3ft cord or something.
