Only regret is the software which ships with the ups doesn't have a linux installation!
Using the software, when there's a power outage, it sends you an email with the time and another email when power returns.

If you don't want those features, a 1000va with 600w by apc is $130.

I waited 23 weeks and the one battery swelled up and wedged inside the case so i cant replace just the battery

I think the smart alludes to the emails and if i remember right it selectively shuts down your server so it doesnt just stop when the battery runs out in a power failure
