"they both work fine (hence the five-star review) much cheaper than wemo or other homekit alternatives.

Stay away from meross. Terrible product. Totally worthless. Lousy products. I am more compelled to buy a product where the manufacture/seller answers questions—themselves.
This product keeps randomly loosing connection. This issue continues to happen sporadically for no reason. The other one only communicates with the hub when it wants to use 5ghz networks instead of 5 ghz networks.
Setting up through the manufacturer app is useless, it redirects you to the ihome app. Couldn't even link it to the device app because of ios and being a homekit device.

They are crazy easy to install and setup and my mother thinks i’m some sort of tech wizard.
This is so easy to set up and convenient to use
Constantly loose wifi connection and wifi was less than 5 feet away.
Functions well very easy even if you make a mistake to reset.
Price
$10 each seems to be the right amount for this homekit accessory.
I have a wemo one that was $20, on sale, so we'll see if either brand outlasts the other or they just work as they should.
Shipping
They shipped fast and are packaged very protectively.
Competitiveness
These are also the exact same as another "brand" meross and there's an app to update the firmware, too.
Much cheaper than wemo or other homekit alternatives.

I did not want to set up a routine where the smart plug was turned off and on on a set schedule but wanted to turn it on or off when i needed to when away from home

Had to use the routine and set it to turn the smart plug off at a certain time turned the day of week off and then had to setup and another routine to turn the smart plug back on again a minute later again with day of week turned off

I have a blink camera that would go offline if there was a glitch in the internet coverage in the area and would have to manually turn the blink camera sync module power off and back on to reset it and allow the blink camera system to work properly again
