I called apple and they were able to tell me how to fix this and afterwards i contacted empire of electronics to report the problem

Going to switch all my music over to my smart phone soon because i have no other choice now that apple has unceremoniously ditched all dedicated music players

Anyways also saw some comments how itunes no longer is compatible with the ipod classic

I am still able to load music onto my classic but sometimes i have to unplug the classic from the computer and plug it back in again once or twice before itunes recognized my classic
