The outer silicone that surround the lens bulges out a little around the glass

As i found out the lip does appear to stop the water from shedding the lens completely

Because of its depth it holds a little drop there for the pool this is no problem but if you wanted to use them for open water swimming where you need to see landmarks or surface marker buoys this remaining water may cause visual distortions and just be a general pain in the butt

I needed a new pair of goggles as my trustyvery old speedos were reliable but showing their age so i ordered a pair of speedo goggles they leaked despite much time in the pool making adjustments
