It's cheaply made, so needs to be handled with extreme care to avoid breaking it.
Price
This is a great filter for the price.
That said they also cost 3x as much as a hob filter.
I would buy 1 or 2 more if the price hadn't doubled for no apparent reason.
They can be somewhat expensive to purchase and maintain their batteries but worth the peace of mind.
Competitiveness
Compared to most cartridge hob filter designs, this one is superior because it frees you from expensive frequently replaced cartridges.
The only negative thing i have to say is my husband wanted a diffrent brand and the instructions are hard to figure out.
You can easily cut other filtration medium to fit if you want different level of filtration.

However even at the lowest filter setting there is too much flow for my betta and i will have to keep looking for a lower flow filter

I haven’t yet seen any leakage but the media has tried to rise a few times but that was because i didn’t use the media cartridge

First i got this to replace fluval u2 because it was pain to clean and had to get special filter to get carbon

There is a plastic “sleeve “ that the filters fit in to easily pull them out

The plastic sleeve doesn’t force you to use their filters unlike fluval u2
