Quality
Im seeing the change in the quality of my water after putting up this system.
If that sounds familiar to you, the pre-filter in this system is a must!
The uv filter probably works as advertised, but unless you have your water tested and viewed under a microscope, you'll never know.
I change mine every two months, or with every eighth pre-filter change.
Price
The manufacturer recommends changing the uv filter once yearly, so you will need to calculate that into the long-term cost of this system.

I ended up putting replaceable filters on shower heads and the refrigerator water line before realizing that it would be easier to simply reload the salt into the tank once a month

In my estimation if you have minerals in your water youll still need a water softener to keep your pipes spigots toilets bathtub shower heads and washer from getting lime build up

Given the price of both id say that you might be better off not buying this portion of the system and spending the money on a water softener instead
