Pros & Cons
Pros
This is a compilation of short stories and some of his best novellas. A brilliant collection of stories that really add to the cosmere. I hope to see more stories relating to these minor worlds!
When you hit the new year, after a heavy swath of reading over the holiday period you sometimes want something a little lighter or smaller to dip into whilst you get ready to expound the sheer volume of what the previous year had in store. It’s a long... Read More
The emperor's soul, sixth of dusk, and secret history are each amazing novellas. A master forger is called upon to create an artificial soul for the assassinated emperor; the invasion an island where magical birds grant powers to their masters; and an... Read More
There is also a short story featuring some of the characters from ‘elantris’ that serves as a bit of a sequel to the novel. Set predominantly between ‘words of radiance’ and ‘oathbringer’. We know that the nightwatcher is an ambivalent spren just like... Read More
Highlights
Quality
There isn't one so far i've been disappointed with.
It's gotten me really excited for the sanderson books still on my tbr, and like i said.
Packaging/appearance
In this way these introductions are presented as accounts of the continuing researches and observations of khriss into the cosmere.
Each story winds through at a fairly quick pace, with some dark twists (kelsier being trapped in the well) woven into their fabric.
Competitiveness
Overall it is a 4-star book that i would love to bump up to a 5 if only i enjoyed that final 40,000-word novella.

We know that the nightwatcher is an ambivalent spren just like the stormfather whom we see to be leaning towards chaotic evil at the end of words of radiance

For example mistborn secret history was brilliant and really filled in a lot of gaps and questions not just about mistborn but the cosmere itself whereas allomancer jak and the pits of eltania felt pointless and i did not enjoy the way it was written and the little plot was just not for me

The book is divided up into “systems” with a neat little explanation as to the layout of each system which is then related to a specific setting from the cosmere – elantris mistborn threnody first of the sun and a previously unnamed and unpublished stormlight archive novella
