Pros & Cons
Pros
Looks good and is a proper fix (sealing off the wiring by still accessible if needed) very easy to install. The only drawback is that the mounting screws were too short.
It is oversized to conceal sheetrock goofs or old paint remnants. Used on wall to cover removed light fixtures.
Smooth, lightly textured finish, with a rounded edge, with no external screw holes. Can paint or caulk it. Went plenty flush against a highly textured ceiling.
This one is increasingly more difficult to find locally, in big box (or mom&pop) hardware stores. Everything out there is for 3 1/2 in.
Cons
Cheap plastic bracket they use is flimsy. It is too flexible. But the mounting system is horrible. Doesn't fit tight and the cap wobbles.
