The price of the unit was par with just buying the equipment from the third party isp in my case though the price of these fluctuates on amazon so ymmv

Despite redundancy i’ll mention that this is just a modem most enduse cases will require that this be plugged into a router or a wireless router or edit directly into your pcs ethernet port if you have no other network infrastructure

It comes with an ethernet cable to plug into the wan port of your router typically but what it does not come with is a coaxial cable to connect it to the cable outlet so that will have to be ordered separately or purchased elsewhere

For selfinstallation the isp will want to know the mac address of the unit and possibly some other information which is found on the sticker on the retail box and also on a sticker on the bottom of the unit itself

A technician from the cable company may also have to visit your building or apartment as well to complete activation – though mine was activated remotely as the building or unit had cable internet service previously and the technician just had to check signal strength and nothing more
