Pros

This modem replaces a model that didn't support voip. It works well, and has the full modem, wireless router, telephone. Ethernet.

The sbv2402 is a good modem but it appears the config file installed by xfinity throttles the speeds. Xfinity needs the hfc mac for activation purposes. Setup via the x finity app on my cell.

I like to say i'm pretty savvy with routers, but this one took me some time to figure out. All in all a fairly painless process. Seller shipped item fast and packed it securely.

This reset covers the case where the seller shipped a returned unit but forgot to reset the network name, password, and who knows what else, before reselling it. It's been solid for over a year. No more lagging problems.

Cons

Buyer beware. I have no way of proving this, so it goes back to amazon for a full refund.

Replaced a rented arris tg1682g modem with this arris surfboard svg2482ac i bought on craigslist for $19.

So this one will be paid for in less than 5 weeks.

And i'm saving $10 a month on my internet bill because i'm not having to rent one from xfinity!

I contacted arris and had a relatively short wait time, all things considered.

It took our internet company a couple of hours to get it going.

Competitiveness

This arris svg2482ac is far superior in its wifi signal since one channel is 5g.
