Pros & Cons
Pros
Great boot to wear as a lineman climbing poles for short periods of time. Asolo is still manufactured in romania just like my old asolo boots.
The tread has a self braking property that keeps it's traction in slick mudd. The gore tex booties do their job well, no leaks so far. They are waterproof.
All previous boots i had would last max 6 months and the rocks would chew the boots up until there was nothing left. This boot was a miracle/game changer for me.
No other brand provides the same level of sturdiness, support, and comfort. Generous and roomy toe box. A bit stiff at first but nothing to worry about. Stiffness and flexibility in the right places.
Cons
The insoles are like thin pieces of perforated paper that are very uncomfortable. The soles were not just detaching they were crumbling.
Terrible customer service. Was not offered repair or replace option. No 2 year warranty. No repair shops available and was brushed aside by support. Do not buy.
Half of the front vibram sole of the right boot had fallen off (like a tongue! This is called dry rot. Luckily repaired with paracord. The soles of this boot are horrible on wet rock, like dangerously horrible.
Highlights
Quality
I've worn asolo boots for about 10 years and the quality is excellent.
The build quality of this boot appears very good; much better than similarly priced boots.
I was sure my feet would be sore regardless of the quality of the boot after 17 hours of wearing them that day but i was wrong.
I contacted asolo and they confessed that there were major problems with the adhesive on several batches of the boots.

Competitiveness
The gortex lining comes up high on the boot.
This is my second pair of these boots, however, in the first pair the soles delaminated catastrophically in the first 90 days.
It was hard to part with $100 more than any close competitor.

They shouldnt be since that saps energy adds weight and inhibits breathability throughout the boot
