Pros

Headset gets a second chance at life on ps5! Easy to use adapter for ps5 and any astro mix amp. The only downside, not so much of this but with the ps5 in general is you run out of usb ports.

It works perfectly for my previous setup, it works perfectly with the switcher as well. It makes streaming a lot simpler and possible. The only downside is it tops out at 60 fps.

Cons

Astro gaming's a50 adapter is not compatible with the ps5. The optical port does not allow for full audio control, and dolby audio drivers to be toggled on and off. The maximum that this adapter can do is 1080p @ 120hz.

It's like the adapter is a brick. No lights, switches, nothing.

After removing the astro hdmi adapter, the capture card still screeches and isn’t displaying any image. It’s a known issue with this hardware.

It's pathetic that the highest price (highest quality) option for ps5 audio output has longevity problems this bad.

Product box says 1 year limited hardware warranty but amazon's policy is 30 days for returns so not sure where that leaves me.

Packaging/appearance

Almost immediately had problems with my 4k tv showing nothing but a black screen when i turned on the ps5.

I disconnected this and plugged my hdmi cord directly into the ps5 without this item and my ps5 has 120hz now.

I wish i didn't need this but in sonys infinite wisdom the forwent the optic port on the ps5.

If you’re buying a mixamp, just order this now so you don’t wait.

That means you don’t have an output to a mixamp.

I don’t like that you need to buy another $40 part to make a $300 headset work on your ps5.
