This dvd drive is one of the quietest drives i've ever had, and works flawlessly.

Asus 24x dvd-rw serial-ata internal oem optical drive drw-24b1st black.

The old drive would work, but the cpu did not recognize it anymore.

Price

This is inexpensive and that's all i need.

All of them should work, and no matter how expensive, they all last 1-3 years.

Shipping

Drive was delivered without box or promised manual.

Packaging/appearance

Then amazon put it in another extremely thin bag with no packing protection what so ever.

Came in paper pouch with no box or manuals or cables.

But the packing was just in a plastic bag.

It does make a noise when starting which is not surprising considering the lack of protective packaging.

Competitiveness

I have had an expensive dvd and it didn't last any longer than these cheap ones, and performed an almost imperceptible amount better.
