Pros

Fits snug, comes with mounting screws. Drive works perfectly. Setting up is a breeze -- simply download the asus firmware installer tool and the custom firmware version. The unit is actually pretty quiet and looks clean when installed properly.

You need some software to rip the disc's but you can find that via google. The drive reads blu-ray's just fine as well as dvd's and cd's. Also supports the 100gb m disc, a good way to backup your precious files and photos.

New, scratch-free discs still get random read errors. On inserting the disc into any drive afterwards, the drive lights flash infinitely. As if no disc is loaded.

Great drive and easy to install with power and sata cables.

I have used it to burn to dvds, dl-dvds, brs, and dl-brs and it works very well.

Used makemkv with 42gb movie and it burned this verbatim bd-r dl disc in 26.

From reading amazon reviews the internal ones are more reliable, blly also has a list of specific models as well.
