Pros

This burner works well, makes a fair bit of noise when ripping dvds. The top is a neat circular textured pattern if for some reason you need to touch your external burner.

Runs quietly and doesn't skip when bumped like the cheapies. Moves from track to track noiselessly. Starts right back up after being paused.

Plug and play functionality on asus laptop with windows 10 os. Worked like a champ from the moment it was plugged in to the pc.

Great item especially for the price. Very pleased with this purchase. There are many less expensive brands but i suspect the quality of those may not be as good.

Cons

Cost is not justifiable. Doesn't work with macbook pro 11. Don't bother talking to customer service agents either, they're useless and incompetent.

Plugged into an asus laptop, win11 pro, fired right up, ripped cd right away, very quiet.

Built a new desktop computer and the new case doesn't have any slots for a optical drive so had to get a portable version.

Price

For the price you can't beat it.

I should have bought this one right off instead and trying to save a few dollars on a cheaper external dvd that did not work

On the negative side, the package was not in the best condition.

Competitiveness

I decided to spend a few more dollars and buy an asus drive.

I had a cheaper external disc burner from a brand i've never heard of.

It does also feel a bit more solidly put together than the no-name brand external drives i've used.

This asus model is so much better.
