Pros

Asus is legit and i have been happy with all their products starting from mobos to gpus. Asus and a gent named merlin have some kind of agreement on alternative firmware. Merlin uses the stock asus firmware, but opens it up to greater user control, so... Read More

Easy to configure, worked right out of the box, and has strong enough wifi to reach most of my house. The easy set up makes this great and it is fully customizable in the settings! Using the openvpn and setting it up on the router is super easy.

Cons

The outer layer of plastic seems to be delaminating and flakes of it are breaking off. Time management only works reliably/consistently if you turn off nat acceleration. It appears the port on the router that connects to the modem may have gone bad.

Asus has quality and durability issues. The latter just cannot be tolerated. It is basically unusable. This thing is absolutely flakey and a disappointment.

These devices appear to be designed to be thrown away, which is a huge waste of money and resources. This product is not on par with everything else i used from asus. But there are at routers at just below flagship level that are much cheaper.

Competitiveness

The features on this router are similar to the features of the rt-n56u when logging into it.

Their are many options to take into consideration like channel and the widths but for me channel 1 and on 20mhz gave the best results.
