Pros & Cons
Pros
The xt8’s are tri band and will work excellent either as a standalone system or used as aimesh nodes with other asus ax triband models. Once up, it is solid and delivers the performance that you supply. Vanilla implementation works fine.
Once one is configured, power it down before configuring the other. If you want second in ap mode, need to apply settings before the router can get its claws into the second (ie off network) g is the new basic standard even if you don't have a faster ... Read More
Of course, ymmv. First off, a little backstory. Asus take a look at your competition.
The asus router/extender covers the entire first floor and outside porches and patios with the strongest wifi signals i've ever had there. Currently our modem (comcast) is in the basement wired directly to an asus router on the main floor at one end o... Read More
Cons
But as soon as i move that connection to the router, my performance drops drastically. I have to disconnect and reconnect devices from the router for it to work.
Reviewer says the mini was great for a while, then became unreliable and unstable after the first year. Network just isn't compatible with iot devices. You're now going to have to spend a long time scanning through asus support forums and messing with... Read More
Got disconnected every time before reaching a person. Spent 30 minutes checking connections and rebooting everything before finally contacting customer service.
Highlights
Quality
The app, ui, and feature set are very very well thought out.
We were constantly having wifi problems in our home, the asus mesh system has solved this problem and increased our security.
Constant dropping although it says it's connected and disappointing range made me look into other products.
My cameras have been undisturbed and fully functional.
Price
I highly recommend this system especially for the price.
I was skeptical about this due to the high price but my google mesh just simply hasn't been working well.
I am a cheapass so i bought mine open-box for $150 and it was a steal for a two-device setup.
It’s worth the money if you have dead spots or issues with range in your home, garage, backyard, etc.
Shipping
Much faster than the wi-fi one gets from the cable service.
First of all, i was very pleased to have been able to order and receive this on the same day, mere hours after clicking on buy now.
Plus we got it the very next day.
Packaging/appearance
Added the second box in the back of the house.
Wow, i get excelent signal from primary box out where i needed a satilite box.
Competitiveness
The customization on the app is superior to other competitors.
I set it up the other day and it's been great overall, the wifi coverage is much better than the eero my isp gave us, and on to... Read More

We had tried a couple other brands, and they were extremely basic.

There are a couple things you have to manually do if you want best coverage such as assigning devices to the secondary station

For some reason most devices wanted to connect to the primary station if possible

If you have the phone app then you can fairly easily assign them to the secondary unit

The other thing is if you lose power then repower them by powering the remote base first and then the primary base right afterwards or most stuff will connect to the primary

One other odd thing is i have a motion light sensor in my laundry room and putting the remote base near that triggered it on

The setup was easy enough i did have the same issue others mentioned about not being able to access the router config page while connected through a switch so i ended up just doing the setup through the phone app which was super similar coming from eeros
