Only use water if not you will miss this device up no essential oils in the water at all if you do you will mess up the device i had to buy a second one because i messed up the first one because i put essential oils in the water very cool device it dont stop running until all the water is gone from wherever you put the device in

My only qualm about this product is that its a bit difficult to place the wire as it affects how 34balanced34 the humidifier sits on the water and pumps out the mist
