I stacked hard back books to be exactly even with the front lower base so it would not be stressed when nailing

I still would strongly recommend reading the instructions first but i know some people never do things like that so dont be surprised if it doesnt work out like you thought it would

This eliminated the issue others have mentioned in that when you attach the rear backing board there is no support for the middle

I did not find anything wrong with the partsitems themselves in quality of construction or ease of figuring things out as they were labeled

I also found that the shelves were not as deep or thick as on my older unit but i dont see this as being an issue
