Pros

The th106 appears to control power to the resistive heater two ways. This reduces the tendency for electric baseboard heaters to click-click-click as they cycle on and off. The unit contains metal fins for a heat sink and vents to release the heat.

Both exceed the spec of 4 hours. It has really great programmable options for your heating needs. It can be programmed separately for each day but there are 4 pre-set periods.

It controls right to the setpoint without overshooting. It has an early start feature, that ensures that it learns the thermal inertia of the room it is in. This is awesome in the winter, so when your alarm goes off, you can have your room at a nice c...  Read More

This thermostat replaces the same one that was about 8 years old that failed. The house is 26 years old and still had the original bi-metal dial thermostats. Only cons (1) it's pretty large. The only drawback is that it is lacking a backlight.

I buy propane on contract, and the cost of the electric heat and propane was a wash the last few years. Decided to try 110v heat in the bedroom. It's been running a 3800 watt heater in the living room without issue. This is way better than their other...  Read More

Cons

It self-powers itself by stealing some current from the load. The thermostat only allows for two temperatures to be programmed. Night temp is now 80, day temp is 75 and away is 105!

Highlights

Quality

This is the best thermostat i have ever purchased for baseboard wall heat.

Nice quick settings, lots of programmable times

Completely silent operation and has 5 heating levels displayed as 5 little bars - just like a cell phone.

The stain comes from the electrostatic effect of warm air from the thermostat drifting up the wall.

Price

Already paid for itself in a month.

Lowered first electric heating bill by over 25%.

Not a deal breaker, just something to be aware of.

Competitiveness

This is way better than their other options as it allows for 4000 watts total compared to others that are less than 3800.

Perhaps aube/honeywell will consider building a little deflector into their plastic housing.

It replaced a dial, and it's soo much better!
