Pros
The bass hits deep, with volume (not talking about loudness) and amazing clarity and control. The mids are glorious in their lushness. I own 3 pairs 2 rosewoods 1 bamboo and the bamboo sounds the best.
Treble is not dialed back, it's just right. A piano sounds as it should, the attack of the snare drum is fast and articulate.
The build quality is impeccable. The overall aesthetic is rich and lush and classic. It is well deserved. A statement of true craftsmanship.
They are rich and rich and detailed in an absolutely effortless kind of way. Highs are crystal clear and not sibilant or fatiguing in any way.
The lcd-2 does this better than any other headphone i have personally heard. It is the benchmark for planer headphones. The audeze lcd2f is as close as you will come.

Quality
The audio quality is awesome, and the headphones perform well even at lower volumes.
Overall:the sound quality makes it worth it even despite the comfort issues.
These are sensitive enough to work with a phone but if you don't intend to use a higher quality dac and amp, there are better options.
But, let's speak to my experience with the lcd2's.
Price
Lcd-2 is the benchmark for planer headphones .
These really need good front end gear in order to justify their cost.
I have learned what the quest for great sound can cost you.
Shipping
I sent them back to audeze, they have a very good costumer service, prompt communication and they refund the shipping.
Packaging/appearance
The lcd-2 by far is the best of the audeze lineup far better than the lcd-2c .
However i had to just get these bad boys before i get the thingi plugged them into my mediocre work laptop and played some flac’s.
Competitiveness
I wear a xxxl motorcycle helmet and they fit comfortably.
I also listen to spotify directly through the headphone jack on my yamaha aventage rx a860 7.
To this point i have only heard them powered by a fiio e10k portable dac.
My dac is a schiit bifrost multibit.

The leather around the woodedge of the cups have become frayed and my only niggle has been to spend upward of 80 to have them shipped in from audeze
