The overall sound quality is just warm, sweet, and incredibly detailed.
Price
I will buy 10 more if the price will drop to $100 again.
Great little mics at a very decent price.
Competitiveness
I find it to be bright and airy and very pleasant to listen to when micing guitars and mandolins.
Kind of like an sm57 but higher, but they are an sdc and sound much cleaner and detailed.
Noise floor is higher than more expensive models, but it is not conspicuous in live situations.

This is not an industry standard sm81 but you get a pair of pro37s for the price of a single shure
