Most outlets in france are 3prongs inside an indented circle

Two prongs are female but the 3rd one is male which means your adapter needs to have a receptacle for the 3rd prong

Furthermore some outlets have an interlock which prevents you from pushing the plug into the wall unless your plug has that receptacle
