I initially bought this item november 2011 to check my cars emissions monitors to make sure they were working correctly so i could pass smog because if you lose power ie change your battery or unhook it you will reset the monitors and it takes a model specific driving cycle to get them to reset and your check engine lights wont tell you they arent set so

I bought this as a gift for my son i already have one using it for years it works fine at least it gave you an idea what is wrong with your car before taking it to the repair shop
