Pros & Cons
Pros
Easy to use and easy to use without confusing. Works great however the softwear has too many infections in it. You can use the language that is easiest for you to use the device.
This review is for the maxi tpms ts501 tester. Used it to check for tpms malfunction. Works perfe try with autel sensors.
Even oem sensors need to be programmed to the vehicle. This means the sensor has the id number programmed at the factory. The key to clear the code is for the ecu to recognize the rf id of the sensor.
The device is really good. The included storage case is nice. Absolutely fantastic tool.

However there are important points of confusion i’d like to clarify

First understand there are two types of sensors 1 oem and 2 autel mx programmable

Oem sensors are plug and play to a point but the less expensive autel units without the obdii cable will not complete the process of writing the id to the ecu
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
This is important because not all autel units can do this

Alternatively you can buy an autel mx sensor for about 50 each and the process is somewhat more straightforward and does not require the obdii cable as the id of the existing dead sensor is programmed to the new mx tpms

There is still a catch however

If you plan to use the pvc method to make a pressurized vessel and leave the dead sensor in the tire you won’t know the id of the sensor without removal

If you buy the less expensive autel unit the cable is not necessary but you must have access to the dead sensor to program your more expensive mx sensor
