Pros & Cons
Pros
These are intended for use by licensed ham operators. Works great once programmed. Picks up stations 25-30 miles away and hits repeaters 10-15 miles away from inside the house.
Can't beat a tri band radio for under $40. The larger battery and other accessories are interchangeable with my dual band, so that is a distinct plus. Can't go wrong with an after market tri-band gain antenna, ie abbvee brand. Comes with 2 antennas, s... Read More
Cons
Cheep chyna radio. No chirp software.

Radios like this rely on a network of radio signal repeaters for long distance functionality.

Not as many features as the more expensive model, but with a mic and tri-band antenna, it does as much as i need.

I bought some triband antennas off amazon to try

The two separate antennas pretty much out perform the triband antennas i tried

The triband antennas were typically as good or better on 2m and 70cm but not on 1 14m

I guess it is too much off a compromise to do all three bands in one antenna

If i had to do it again i would probably just buy a better 2m70cm antenna and use the baofeng 1 14m antenna that came with the radio
