Modulation Clarity
Customers have mixed opinions regarding the modulation clarity of the BaoFeng BF-R3 Tri-Band Two Way Radio. While some report clear transmissions and good reception, others mention difficulties with programming and inconsistent performance. The radio's ability to operate on the 220 band and its affordability are noted positives.
Highlights
Quality
Well, prepping and we got our gmrs lisence.
I was surprised at the quality and ease of use of this two way radio.
Mine came with a disk that didnt have any software on it, disk was blank.
Also, unlike newer uv-5r radios, this one is not locked out of transmitting beyond ham frequencies.
Price
I purchased this ht for an inexpensive way to get on the 220 band for local repeaters.
For the price, you can't beat it.
I’ve spent $600+ on a japanese radio with equivalent band coverage.
At around $35, or about $10 more than a barbones uv-5r, you get the addition of the 1.
Shipping
Shipping is fast & they are safely packed.
My radio arrived well packed and quickly and mine works very well.
A replacement was shipped and received the next day.
Packaging/appearance
Unboxing was impressive - it came with an extra capacity battery, desk charger, speaker mic, 2 antennas, programming cable, etc.
Competitiveness
Compared to other baofeng offerings, this one really is great value.
I compared the audio on the bf-r3 with a baofeng uv-5r.
These radios don’t compare to higher quality japanese radios, which i mainly own, but for this price point, it’s really impress... Read More
