Quality
For the price, functionality and quality you can't beat this radio!
I used it for a couple of weeks with the stock antenna that comes with the radio.
The audio quality is comparable with the other handhelds that cost much higher.
But i have had no issues with the radio.
Price
This radio is great and for the price you cant get any better.
Packaging/appearance
The only thing that i had trouble with was the 3800mah battery, it was not meant to be used on the uv-5re.
Competitiveness
If your a prepper i would recommend at least two of these in your bug out bag and one around home for any emergencies.
Programming is a hasslevolume isn't greatoverall, nice for beginners at a low price.

The manual does not tell you how to program the unit you will have to look up a youtube video to get instructions on how to program it

You can talk on both ham and gmrs frequencies assuming you have both licenses

And please if youre going to use this radio in nonemergency situations get a ham license a little studying and 15 will get you a ten year ticket and learn the dos donts

Its a ham radio which if you want to transmit you will need to get your radio operators license
