These are among the cheapest option for getting into amateur radio and this has an extra tx and rx band and a few extra features.
This is good for an inexpensive handheld.
At the lowest value it seemed like i needed a pretty strong signal to keep it open.

Other notes:- the model in the box has a sticker saying m-5r which matches the listing.

All things considered i'd say that this is a pretty good alternative to the uv-5r.

The air band works there is no way to manually toggle am from nfm when you tune to a frequency within the air band range it is automatically switched to am

Otherwise it would pulse on and off i had to turn it off to be able to understand anything

Its the standard large capacity uv5r battery with a barrel plug of which there was no adapter included in the box
