Pros & Cons
Pros
Baofeng uv-17r is an improved version of the classic uv-5r. Wishes it had usb charging, it's way more convenient to charge on the go with usb-c compared to using a dedicated charger. Good buy for a single unit, would recommend for beginners.
Highlights
Quality
Audio transmit and receive is clear, and i didn't have any issues reaching my local repeaters.
Other than that, these are pretty solid, and i'm glad to add them to my collection!
Unfortunately one of my batteries doesn't seem to hold a charge.
Overall the radio is very easy to setup and use.
Price
Not the best but a decent budget beginner's radio.
Competitiveness
More recently i've tried some of the tidradio models, which compete with the uv-5r but with some upgrades.
This radio does feel a bit more modern when compared to the uv-5r.

The battery does have a screw to keep it in place however if you leave the screw loose the battery does not stay in place meaning you have it but you have to use it
