The alarm function is stupid and too easily activated when paired up with the fact that the f button does not activate reliably.
A replacement cord alone (like you can do with the uv3r will not do the trick.
Price
Wish it had alphanumeric letters to program in repeater names, but price is awesome.
This is good radio at a terrific price.

I set our licensed frequencies and then set volume at about 3/4 and then locked the buttons.
Competitiveness
I like this better than than my baofeng uv-5r.
It's not quite as small as i thought it was, but i believe the previous uv-3r models were a tad smaller, the plus is a little more boxy.

I do not plan on using it as a base station or a mobile station and im sure that if i put it on a high gain antenna the intermod will make all kinds of noise and probably desense the radio so bad itll render it useless
