The baofeng uv-5r is ubiquitous. Ham radio use, setting up frequencies to use on repeaters, etc. Will work. I do have one complaint, while the walkie talkie are decent the extra accessories they come with are pretty cheap.

The uv-5r is just a relatively poor performing dinosaur in the fast-moving world of radio communication technology. Rf interference can overwhelm weak signals. Both of those functions can be only be edited by hooking the radio up to a computer.

For the price of these things they are not bad .

My friend suggested these radios as they are inexpensive.

I have used them through shipping containers and have had no problems.

I ordered them up and they arrived in a few days.

Upon opening the box, i found a programming cable which i already had one, but had to buy separately when i got my original one.

I have various stations with vhf, uhf, wx, and frs/gmrs options.

Even operators who decry the quality compared to much more expensive brands have at least one baofeng in their arsenal of radios.

While these are solid radios, they just don't offer some of the same technologies that you can get with other baofengs, such as the 5rm.
