Build Quality
Customers have mixed opinions regarding the build quality of the Baofeng UV-5R radio. While some are pleased with its sturdy construction, others have reported issues with the foam cover tearing during installation and the earpiece not fitting properly.
Highlights
Quality
Good power output across the bands and unlocking is simple.
It seems to work quite well and feels well constructed.
The foam cover tore while trying to install it and the earpiece doesn't fit well at all.
The antenna is the only good part of these.
Price
This is a pretty good radio for such a low budget price.
For the price you really can't beat it and definitely recommend getting one or two for emergencies.
At the time of this review the radio is $20, the additional ar-771 antenna itself is worth $10.
May be cheaper just to buy the radio and antenna separately.
Shipping
Very happy with how fast i got it
Packaging/appearance
Anyone who has used a baofeng radio knows they are packed with features, this one is no different.
Competitiveness
This little guy works very well as my other baofeng's.
It works about as well as my other uv-5r, they sound okay, but i find that the td-h3 sounds clearer and doesn't cost much more.
* 771 antenna - the kit includes an "ar-771" antenna which is one among many cheap clones of nagoya's na-771 antenna.
