Pros & Cons
Pros
Some people note that the tube/port/* backs up/clogs when grinding. But the awesome coffee you get from freshly roasted and ground cup of coffee is well worth it. I use a 1/4 cup of freshly roasted beans (from birds and a please check it out, they are... Read More
The virtuoso model is stellar to the former we had purchased. This ultimately makes it quieter than those cheaper grinders. This model baratza is a vast improvement over the encore that i previously used.
Built like a tank. It is refreshing to see a company buck the trend. This is nicely built and should last quite awhile.
The virtuoso has a lighted push button timer control with display. It has a more tightly sealed and more static resistant bin. It saves me weighing the beans every day.
Cons
It is virtually (pun intended) impossible to attach the silicone gasket to the burr ring after cleaning. The materials and the design of the hopper used to also set a grind is awful. Have to use a small fork to pry out the jammed beans resulting is a ... Read More
Each gram of coffee is ground using the same settings. The grind collector is covered in coffee grounds, so it's nothing but a mess. The machine is not coated to prevent static, so the grounds stick to the plastic. We areconcerted by the quality of th... Read More
The dial that adjusts the time is nonsensical. If you turn it clockwise, it changes by a tenth of a second. The timer design requires me to turn the dial for what feels like way to long to get the machine set to its longest setting, 40 seconds.
This is silly. Do better. Never again. Definitely less than once a day on average.
I am honestly floored this product hasn't been pulled from the market. It really needs a massive redesign. It boggles my mind that there are so many 5-star reviews.
Highlights

It’s very well made and will last a long time.
Well made and fully adjustable for correct grind.
After 5 months the burr holder last they changed to a new one !
It also pisses me off that it has a calibrate feature but it is hidden such that you have to disassemble the dang thing in orde... Read More
Price
All in all, a 5-star item well worth the high price.
They sell parts to repair them and they are reasonably priced.
Only cost me $60 same has it would have been to send my old one in.
So i paid $80 more just to grind the beans!
Packaging/appearance
The grinder came packaged in all cardboard, everything that can be recycled.
Competitiveness
I think the biggest difference maker insofar as flavor is concerned is not so much the coffee maker as much as the coffee grinder.
I should note that the cheaper baratza coffee grinder produces similar consistent particle size and great tasting coffee for $1... Read More
