There is one appendix at the back of the book then a series of appendices at the end of each chapter

Perhaps the authors wanted to make newer editions more challenging

Either way at times when ive been stumped deciphering with a new concept ill return to the earlier edition and find it crystalclearly explained

All in all though a worthwhile text
