Awhile back the design was changed of the plastic support so that a portion of the support is applied to the center of the bottom of the foot

Lace up and other less restrictive supports do not provide nearly the appropriate support as this product

The ankle braces i bought in walmart before the foam with velcro does not fit good inside the shoe
