Pros
Purchased for skier’s thumb. This brace is a game changer. It is a life saver.
The replacement is just what i needed and has been a real godsend. The price was freaking me out, still is to be honest. Was skeptical because of the higher price but 100% worthwhile over the course of 2 months.
Thumb stabilizerr is a wrist brace that can be molded to support the thumb to varying degrees and at various angles. The metal inserts are pretty sturdy and the stabilization strap that surrounds the thumb, happens to hit me at about the right spot.
Bauerfeind - rhizoloc - thumb stabilizer - splint works perfectly to relief pain, as my thumb heals from an injury. Very effective for dequervain's tendonitis.
Cons
After wearing it every day for about 2 weeks, the velcro lost it's stickiness and started falling off constantly, so it's pretty much useless to me now. For the price very cheaply made.

Let's put it this way: the weakness and pain in the joint is currently causing significant degradation in my playing.
I wish it were a bit sturdier holding the thumb from rolling in toward the palm.
Price
First one paid for at physical therapy 2 years ago which cost approximately 3 times as much.
Was skeptical because of the higher price but 100% worthwhile over the course of 2 months.
Very expensive and doesn't completely immobilize thumb.
Competitiveness
Have not played sports while wearing this, but generally speaking it would be possible when compared to other braces.

For a long time i usually took the brace off before playing guitar but as my hand deteriorated i started leaving it on most times

It took some getting used to but i think the problems were mostly in my head not actual physical dexterity

Im considering getting a new one for this reason but considering the cost of the item i wish it had lasted a bit longer than 6 months before i had to think about this
