Ok, the behringer deq2496: i bought it for around $700 (us) new about 6 years ago, and even then i thought i got a lot for the money.
Now i see it for sale under $300 (us), making it a real bargain.
Competitiveness
Monoprice is the best quality/price that i've come across for the cabling needed.
Ive come across other sound systems also using the deq2496, showing its popularity.
Can't say the same about other (and even more expensive) brands, like digitech.
I doubt any "budget" dac can come even remotely close to it.

Wonder if a hardware or firmware issue has been made with this unit since its introduction or if there are manufacturing issues between units as i dont wont to oppose anyone elses experience

I do not however use it in a heavy use for extended periods but only for home use in a small 34listening34 room for music enjoyment and occasional recording its not on the road in a heavy live gig function or such

I also hear no distortion or noise floor introduced in the path am using digital input but have tried analog inputs with no noticable noise either
