Pros & Cons
Pros
The behringer xenyx q502usd works as a preamp for my dynamic microphone. It works just fine with a condenser microphone requiring phantom power. It's awesome, although the phantom i don't know what it does, but i used it for recording myself in my pc ... Read More
The equalizer is limited but it does allow for basic manipulation without being overwhelming to a neophyte like me. Nice equalizer lights for left and right input levels. In the case of the q502usb, input 1 has a level knob and pan knob.
Q502usb is a good mic and headphone combination. Sends and receives sound via usb or rca and 1/4 inch cable. Allows you to plug in a guitar, an electronic drumset and external speakers.
Cons
Main issue is that i consistently have to unplug and replug the power. Sound quality is poorer than some basic comparision. Not going to bother with another.
Highlights
Quality
Bottom line great product, solidly built, ease of use and not overly complicated.
This unit works well, installed instantly, and so far has not let me down.
There was a very slight hum in the sound and at first i thought i had bought a bad mic, or a bad interface, or that my adapter was no good.
Most interfaces merely have a gain knob and a clip meter and phantom power.
Price
For a novice wanting to shoot music video, guitar covers of bands, this is a great tool --- only $60.
For it's price point, it offers a lot.
Would be nice if this had a three point instead of two point eq, but for the cost it's pretty cool that it has one at all.
Competitiveness
I got this with the idea that it would be a cheap alternative to an expensive microphone to computer interface.

I might upgrade to an 802 as i may require a second mic and the 502 only allows for one xlr input but that by no means says this is not a great entry level mixer i just missjudged what my requirements were

No additional cables were required to connect it to my mac but you will require cables to connect your components to it

All jacks are 14 inch save the xlr jack but there is a 14 inch jack below it for that style of mic line in or non condenser so you can use one or the other but not both

If you plan on multiple mics xlr then look to the 802 or higher
