Pros & Cons
Pros
The sound is just as good as the mackie mixwizard 16:2. The preamps are so much better than i expected, compressors are amazing when set well. The eq is a little sensitive, and the mid sweep is an awesome feature.
This is the largest rack-mountable board made by behringer. It works just fine on a standard 19 rack. There are some things you can do to maximize your inputs and that's where this board really shines. It has a 4 bus structure, providing the ability t... Read More
The x2442usb offers numerous signal routing options which gives you a lot of flexibility. There is sowftware drivers for it, and dialing in the latency can get tricky, but i just hardlined out to a usb interface.
Bad reviews of this product are primarily people that don't read up on gear before purchasing it. Knobs and * are all smooth and sturdy. This is just as good quality as other higher priced brands.
Fully complies with the requirements expected. Not bulky and very light. I like that it has a light socket on the top.
Cons
The mixer works great when it works. Contacting amazon yielded unusual below expectation results.
Highlights
Quality
Good quality for home studio or band use.
This is the highest quality unit that i have used so far.
This mixer is unbalanced, not good for live sound, some of the channels are not working, and it also shocks you.

Price
This was a great purchase at a great price.
The price was very good and affordable.
The usb only sends or receives a 2-ch stereo mix/input; do not expect it to bus all those channels digitally for $379.
I bought mine used on craigslist for $200.
Competitiveness
I've always found the behringer boards are sturdy and produce quality sound at a price much less than other brands of similar quality.
This is just as good quality as other higher priced brands.
I've been using mackie and yamaha, but i've seen almost no benefits from either mackie or yamaha over the behringer, and i susp... Read More

There is a lot of confusion about the functionality and some of the usb capabilities but after researching online it seems that a lot of people think this board is supposed to do everything for dirt cheap

It is only called x2442usb to distinguish it from the x2442fx board which looks exactly the same but has more preset fx and no usb
