The first picture is showing what the cat5e rj45 looks like with the individual wires in a straight line across the connector.

Most routers and modems still ship with a cat5e cable.
Being on dsl i really don't need a cat6 cable ( unless you use a really long run (hundreds of feet.

The cables can actually handle more because sometimes my internet provider will throttle the connection speeds to limits that really test their routers and ive downloaded 15gb games in under 20 minutes

One thing to note is the cable i received has the individual wires in the rj45 connector staggered like cat6 is typically arranged rather than straight across like the first picture shows due to the gauge of the wire being slightly larger

An alternative for the later is to hook up with wifi if your equipment is wifi enabled
